A long but rewarding day trip from Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh City by private car (approx. 3.5 hours each way). The itinerary skips the obvious and mixes the city’s iconic landmarks with lesser-known sites: the Chinese merchant quarter of Cho Lon, a secret wartime bunker hidden in plain sight in the city centre, and a final stop for Vietnamese egg coffee — the Hanoi-born drink that has become one of Saigon’s best café experiences. Departs 8:00 AM, returns 7:00–8:00 PM.
Depart at 8:00 AM from Mui Ne. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City around 11:30 AM. Begin in Chinatown (Cho Lon) — the largest Chinese district in Vietnam, centred on Binh Tay Market. Visit Thien Hau Temple (Ba Thien Hau Pagoda) — a Cantonese community temple dedicated to the sea goddess, permanently wreathed in incense smoke from ceiling coils. Continue to the colonial core: the Saigon Central Post Office (designed by Gustave Eiffel's office, still fully operational), Notre-Dame Cathedral (exterior), and the Reunification Palace. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon visit to the Secret Weapon Bunker — a concealed wartime command post beneath an ordinary-looking building in the city centre. Walk through Tao Dan Park, the city's oldest and most pleasant green space. End the day at a local café for Vietnamese egg coffee — ca phe trung, a thick layer of whipped egg yolk and condensed milk over strong black coffee. Depart for Mui Ne, arriving around 7:00–8:00 PM.
