Mid-morning — Hue Imperial Citadel: Enter through the Noon Gate (Ngọ Môn) — the ceremonial southern gateway where the yellow flag of the Nguyen dynasty once flew — and step inside the Imperial Enclosure (Đại Nội). Your guide leads you through Thai Hoa Palace (Hall of Supreme Harmony), the Forbidden Purple City (private residence of the emperor and his family), the Temple of the Dynasties (Thế Miếu) housing the spirit tablets of the Nguyen kings, and the Hien Lam Pavilion with its nine dynastic bronze urns — each engraved with the geography and natural world of the realm.
