About this tour

A four-day private journey from Mui Ne that covers the two defining experiences of southern Vietnam: the layered city life of Ho Chi Minh City and the river world of the Mekong Delta, ending with the underground history of the Cu Chi Tunnels. All transport is private, the pace is unhurried, and the Mekong day on Son Islet puts you in direct contact with a river community rather than a tourist boat circuit.

Itinerary

Depart from Mui Ne at 8:00 AM by private car. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City around 11:30 AM. Explore a bustling local market, then visit the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda and Thien Hau Temple in Chinatown. Enjoy authentic Vietnamese coffee at a local café. See the colonial landmarks: Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Book Street, and the Ho Chi Minh Statue on Nguyen Hue boulevard. Evening free time at Ben Thanh Market or Saigon Centre before checking in to your hotel.
Meal: Lunch at local restaurant.

Travel to the Mekong Delta and cross by local ferry to Son Islet. Spend the day with the island community: visit floating fish farms, try a fish massage in the river shallows, learn how to make traditional rice cakes with a local family, stroll through tropical fruit orchards, and enjoy a home-cooked Mekong lunch on the island. Return to the mainland and overnight in Can Tho.
Meal: Lunch on Son Islet.
Overnight: Standard hotel, Can Tho.

Start before sunrise for the Cai Rang Floating Market — the Delta's largest wholesale floating market, best before 8:00 AM. After the market, visit a traditional noodle and rice paper workshop, cruise peaceful back canals by boat, and stop at a local cacao farm for handmade chocolate tasting. Return to Ho Chi Minh City by afternoon.
Meals: Breakfast on the river; Fruit, noodle, and cocoa tasting during the day.

Morning visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels — the 250 km underground network dug by the Viet Cong during the American War. Watch the historical documentary, then crawl through a widened section of original tunnel, inspect the concealed trapdoors, Hoang Cam smokeless kitchen, weapon displays, and bomb craters. Taste traditional cassava — the staple that sustained the tunnel fighters. Optional shooting range (extra cost). Lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer back to Mui Ne, arriving in the late afternoon.
Meal: Lunch at local restaurant.
