About this tour

A gentle two-day journey from Phu Quoc through the heart of the Mekong Delta, ending in Ho Chi Minh City. The pace is unhurried — a speedboat crossing to the mainland, a riverside lodge, a cooking class with a local family, the early-morning theatre of the Cai Rang Floating Market, a rice noodle workshop, and an afternoon on Son Islet where you live alongside a river community rather than watch it from a boat. Well-suited to families, nature lovers, and anyone who wants to move through the Delta at the Delta’s own speed.

Itinerary

At 9:00 AM, pick-up from your hotel in Phu Quoc and transfer by private car to Bai Vong Pier. Board the speedboat to Rach Gia on the mainland (approx. 2.5 hours). Met on arrival and driven to Can Tho, the capital of the Mekong Delta. Check in to a peaceful local riverside lodge with a private room. The afternoon is free — borrow a bicycle and ride the canal-side lanes, walk through the neighbourhood, or sit by the river and watch the boat traffic. In the evening, join a hands-on Vietnamese cooking class with your host family — learning to prepare two or three Delta dishes — then sit down together for the meal you cooked.
Meal: Dinner with host family (cooking class); fresh fruit.
Overnight: Local lodge, Can Tho (private room).

Rise before dawn for the Cai Rang Floating Market — the largest wholesale floating market in the Delta, most alive between 05:00 and 08:00 when boats stacked with watermelons, pineapples, and sweet potatoes converge at the confluence. Breakfast is served on the boat as you drift through the trading. After the market, visit a traditional rice noodle and rice paper workshop where families still produce by hand, then cruise through quiet back canals by boat. Cross by local ferry to Son Islet, a lush river island with a self-contained community. The afternoon on the islet is hands-on: visit floating fish farms, try a fish massage in the shallows, learn to make traditional rice cakes with a local family, and taste seasonal tropical fruits straight from the orchards. Home-style lunch on the island. Optional stop at the Lily Pad Garden before the transfer to Ho Chi Minh City, where the tour ends at your hotel.
Meal: Breakfast on the boat; Lunch on Son Islet; fresh fruit.
