Pickup at 8:00 AM. Drive to the White Sand Dunes (Bau Trang) — a vast pale desert landscape inland from the coast, with two lakes at its base fed by underground springs. Ride a jeep across the dunes for panoramic views. Continue to the Red Sand Dunes above Mui Ne beach — a smaller but dramatically coloured escarpment. Walk barefoot through the Mui Ne Fairy Stream — a shallow stream cutting through sandstone cliffs of red and white (30-minute walk, water rarely above the ankle). Drive the scenic Sand Dune Highway and Hon Rom Sea Road, stopping at the famous Yellow Coffee Truck and the coastal Windmills for photos.
Continue to the Fish Sauce Museum in Phan Thiet — Vietnam's fish sauce capital, where the 12–18 month fermentation process of ca com anchovy in wooden barrels is explained, with tasting. Visit a nearby Cham tower — a well-preserved example of 10th–13th century brick architecture. Drive south to Ke Ga Lighthouse — a French colonial lighthouse built on a rocky island 500 m offshore in 1897, one of the oldest in Vietnam. Take a short boat across and climb the tower for views over the coastal rocks. Lunch at a local restaurant with regional specialties. Return to your hotel in Mui Ne or Phan Thiet around 5:00 PM.
