Four days from Ho Chi Minh City through the most rewarding stretch of the Mekong Delta, ending with a speedboat crossing to Phnom Penh. The route takes in the coconut canals of Ben Tre, the hidden community life of Son Islet in Can Tho, the Cham mosques and floating villages of Chau Doc, and the silent cajuput waterways of the Tra Su Forest — all by private vehicle, boat, and sampan, with a guide throughout.
Depart at 7:00 AM from your hotel. Travel to Ben Tre and board a private boat on the Mekong River. Pick mangrove fruit along the riverbanks, join local fishermen hauling prawn nets, and eat the catch — freshly cooked on the boat. Visit a traditional coconut candy factory and an artisan chocolate workshop before paddling narrow canals by sampan. Lunch in a tropical fruit garden or on the water. Afternoon tuk-tuk or bicycle ride through the Ben Tre countryside. Stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda, one of the south's most ornate temples, before continuing to Can Tho for the night.

Cross by local ferry to Son Islet — a lush river island where an intact community lives by fishing, farming, and traditional crafts. The day is hands-on: make traditional popped rice and local cakes with families, walk through tropical fruit orchards, inspect floating fish farms and underwater cage systems, meet and ride water buffaloes, and try a fish massage in the shallow river — tiny fish that nibble the feet. Return to the lodge. Optional evening cooking class.

Rise before dawn for the Cai Rang Floating Market — the largest wholesale floating market in the Delta, most active 05:00–08:00 when boats loaded with watermelons, pineapples, and sweet potatoes converge at the confluence. After the market, visit a rice paper workshop and cruise through peaceful back canals. Drive to Chau Doc, stopping at Khmer and Chinese pagodas en route. Afternoon boat trip into the Tra Su Cajuput Forest — a flooded forest of tall melaleuca trees, gliding by motorboat then traditional sampan through channels carpeted in duckweed, with egrets and cormorants overhead. Lunch en route. Check in to your hotel in Chau Doc.

After breakfast, transfer to the pier and board the speedboat to Phnom Penh. The Mekong crossing takes approximately 4–5 hours, passing through Cambodian border formalities at Vinh Xuong. Arrive in Phnom Penh by early afternoon. Tour ends at the Phnom Penh riverside pier.
